Streamlined Weekend Cleaning: Efficient Tips for a Naturally Clean Home”
I realized that my last blog just touched on tips on how to keep up with cleaning and life by using tips from our mothers and grandmothers. Let’s start with the Kitchen and start to make for an efficient schedulethats right for you..
Kitchen Cleaning
Having an efficient home cleaning routine is something we strive for. Cleaning isn’t something we want to do all day on our weekends off, but if we do it right, we only have to spend a few hours a couple of times a month to keep our homes looking good. During the week, I vacuum my kitchen lightly every day before going to work. I’ve learned that washing dishes as they get dirty saves a lot of time and is more efficient.
Once or twice a month, I shake out my kitchen floor mats, scrub them with Dawn dish soap, and hose them off. I also vacuum and wash the baseboards, then give the kitchen a thorough mopping. I love the O-Cedar spin mop because it does a great job cleaning my floors without requiring me to bend, and I can wash the head. For mopping, I use Mrs. Meyer’s all-purpose cleaner—just a tablespoon is needed.
For my glass top stove, I use Bon Ami and hydrogen peroxide for a good scrub. Bon Ami is natural and non-abrasive, and it doesn’t leave a film like baking soda does. I usually buy it from Grove, but you can also find it on Amazon and at Walmart.
For my countertops, microwave, and the outside of my fridge, I use Mrs. Meyer’s all-purpose cleaner. A teaspoon or so in a spray bottle with water is all that’s needed.
