“Freshening Up with Spring Cleaning and Baking Delights”
-
Today, I’m embracing the freshness of spring with a combination of spring cleaning and baking delights on this sunny, windy day, with temperatures reaching a pleasant 52 degrees! Taking a break from the usual routine, I’ve dedicated this day to tackling my spring cleaning tasks. With summer just around the corner, I’m eager to have my home in perfect order before outdoor adventures beckon.
As I hang my sheets outside on the clothesline and give the kitchen floor a thorough wash, I find myself decluttering with gusto. Sorting through my knick-knacks, I bid farewell to items that no longer spark joy and set them aside for donation to our local thrift store. My tip ask yourself 1. does this item fit with my decor still, 2. do I really love it, and finally how many of these do I own.
During a well-deserved break, my thoughts turn to baking. But what should I make? It’s the perfect opportunity to delve into one of my cherished old cookbooks. I have a fondness for these vintage culinary treasures, often unearthed from thrift store treasure hunts.
One of my favorites from my grandmother which you can still find online.
I have apples so I choose to look for an apple receipe and found a few. But this one was quick and easy and turned out wonderfully.
I got out my mixing bowl and started to bake. Every time I bake I think of my grandmother. Probably because a lot of my tools were hers as you can see from my pictures.
I used Sugar in the Raw instead of white sugar on top of the apples about a tablespoon since the apples were sweet enough, I thought. There is nothing better than Watkins cinnamon. Use my consultant number #485182 at checkout.
After Freshening Up with Spring Cleaning and Baking Delights, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as enjoying a cup of tea (I usually order mine from www.republicoftea.com) and delving into a captivating mystery. Among my top picks are Agatha Christie adaptations and episodes of Midsomer Murders. I appreciate the cleverness of Poirot and Miss Marple as they unravel mysteries without relying on violence or coarse language. Midsomer Murders, while set in contemporary times, follows a similar vein of intrigue. I’m a Britbox subscriber, ensuring I have access to all my favorite episodes whenever I please. This being my first post I hope you will continue to come by and visit. I will keep the tea kettle on.
